How to Make a Full Backup in cPanel
In this tutorial, we will walk you through the process of downloading a full backup of your account in cPanel.
This is an excellent method to use when you want to fully backup your project. And it is also great for migration if you wish to change your hosting service, let’s say to move to a VPS, Dedicated server, or a different hosting company.
Downloading a Full Backup in cPanel
1. Log in to your cPanel
2. Click on Backup in the Files section
3. Under Full Backup, click on the Download a Full Account Backup button.

4. On the next page, you can choose the Backup destination and set the email address on which you wish to receive a notification when the Backup has been completed. When that is set, please click on the Generate Backup button.

The full backup will create an archive of all the files and configurations on your website. You can only use this to move your account to another server or to keep a local copy of your files. Please note that you cannot restore Full backups through your cPanel account. However, you can restore Partial Backups. We’ll show you how to do that in another tutorial.
A Full backup can only be restored in WHM by your hosting company, or you can do it if you have your own VPS or Dedicated server.
5. When you receive the email notification that the Full backup has been completed, you can go back to Backup. Under Backups Available for Download, you will find the download link for your Full backup. When you click on it, the download will start.
